people are spending more time in the kitchen

…. and starting to cook/learn/do more for themselves. self-sufficiency and simply creating have become almost a necessity with the vast spike in food prices recently. just in the past week, peanuts and avocados made the headlines for poor crop turnout this year. both being one of my favorite things to eat, and that’s a LITTLE distressing!  add overpopulation and the strain on earth’s resources, food costs will be at a staggering rate within the next fifteen to twenty years.

that said, i’ve decided to start things up again, for reals this time. i think it’s important now more than ever, to continue learning how to cook delicious wholesome meals from scratch because, before you know it, boxed and prepared items will be an expensive thing of the past (i hope).

BUT THERE’S A TWIST! i’ll be cooking 13 recipes a season. here’s why: along with the idea of cooking everything from scratch, it’s insanely helpful (and smart) to purchase items that are in season to cut costs. THAT SAID, this will be interesting, fun and challenging. i’m pretty excited, and it all starts on the first official day of fall, September 23rd (one week from today!)

what have i been up to for the past 6 months? well i moved to medford, right outside of boston. i live in a little attic.

i’ve also upgraded cameras! i’ve crossed over to the dark-side and picked up a new canon. it’s a beut. and i can’t wait to get crumbs in such all in the little crevasses! i’ve been practicing a whole bunch:

so, see you in 1 week! it’s pumpkin/apple/squash/fig season, people.
